There is no doubt that English is considered the most used international language around the world…
Yes, its in deed important to know how to communicate in English…

It’s the language of teaching in most of the universities
And there is a high demand in the job market that those who are looking for jobs should be able to communicate well in English

English makes your life easier in the sense that you will be able to communicate with the outside world, since the whole world now is almost communicating in English

Its gonna be easier for you to deal with your computer or any other device because you will be able to understand their instructions manuals, that are written in English in most of the cases.

Its not something wrong to use other languages. Our Prophet –Peace Be Upon Him- have taught us that learning other people languages will keep you safe.

However, to be honest , our continues daily use of English can affect our Arabic communication skills

Although Arabic is our mother tongue, however, I have noticed, for example, our ability to write a correct formal letter in Arabic takes a bit longer time now because we have not been doing that for along time. I have come across some “shameful” spelling mistakes in documents written by Arabic people.

We sometimes, unfortunately, find it easier to say stuff in English!!

It all depends on the reason why we are using English, if we are mature and we use this language for good purposes and with good intentions, like improving our knowledge, then there will be no harm on our Arabic identity. We know we are not using English just to look “Coool, Maaan” !
